Skoda unfaces Yeti Xtreme

Skoda has revealed the new version of its popular compact SUV Yeti. The new version will be known as Yeti Xtreme and will make its first appearance at this year’s GTI fan meet in Austria on May 29. Skoda CitiJet is also expected to make its first presence at the event.

Yeti Xtreme is the sporty version of Yeti crossover. The 5-door compact SUV looks more stylish, colorful and attractive in its Xtreme avatar. Looks like a rally car with yellow roof and grey body, new Yeti sports a sharp and aggressive front, edgy sides and an upright rear.

The powerful vehicle is equipped with a 1.8-litre TSI engine capable of producing a power of 150bhp and a peak torque of 250Nm at 1500-4200rpm. Fitted with a 6-speed dual-clutch DSG transmission and an all-wheel drive system, Yeti Xtreme goes from 0-100kmph in just 9 seconds with a top speed of 192kmph.

The powerful off-roader in its new version sports 17-inch alloy wheels with off road tires, new wheel inserts, huge front bumper with larger air intake and LED lights, redesigned rear bumper with dual exhausts, tinted side windows and height adjustable chassis. The redesigned SUV is equipped with Octavia RS brakes, four-point safety belts, integrated paddle-shift transmission and a comfortable steering wheel to provide a safe and secure drive on any on and off-road condition.

Yeti Xtreme displays a wider dashboard with a redesigned centre console fitted with belt cutter, fire extinguisher, iPad dock and first aid kit. Carbon fiber parts, aluminum floor panel and Alcantara styling accents enhance the interior of new Yeti.

Yeti made its first global appearance at Geneva Motor show in 2009. It went through a complete makeover in 2013. Yeti is available in two different versions, one for city purpose and the other one is for off-road situations. They are named as Skoda Yeti for the City and Skoda Yeti Outdoor for tough off-road situations. Skoda claims that it has sold over 640,000 Yetis till date since its launch in 2009.

Skoda CitiJet, the convertible two-seater based on Citigo will also make its first appearance at the GTI Worthersee event. CitiJet carries Citigo’s interior and a distinctive metallic finish with blue colored 16-inch alloy wheels. It carries a 1.0-litre MPI engine good for 75bhp.
