2014 Toyota Corolla Altis launched in India
Premium luxury sedan market in India gets a new boost as Japanese car major Toyota has launched the all new Corolla Altis in the country. The 11th generation Altis made its first presence at 2014 Delhi Auto Expo in February. The car is out on sale now at all the authorized Toyota dealerships across the country at a base price of Rs. 11.99 lakh (Delhi).
All new Altis sports a more striking, sharp and attractive looks. Its front looks more aggressive with completely redesigned LED headlights, refreshed radiator grille and extended bumper with fog lamps. Rear chrome garnish and LED tail lights make it even better. Sharp lines on sides provide an edgy look. The 2014 Altis gets 5mm lowered ride height for better aerodynamics and handling.
The 2014 Corolla Altis will be available in both petrol and diesel engine models mated with manual and automatic transmissions. The petrol variants carry a 1.8-litre 1798cc dual VVTi petrol engine which produces a power of 138bhp and torque of 173Nm. It comes with a 7-speed CVT automatic and 5-speed manual transmission. Equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission, the diesel variants of the all new Altis are powered by a 1.4-litre 1364cc turbo unit. The decently powerful diesel engine generates a power of 87bhp.
Toyota offers the new Corolla Altis in a longer and wider body making it more spacious and comfortable. The 2014 Altis measures 4620mm in length, 1776mm in width and 1475mm in height. It has got longer wheel base of 100mm as well. With 2700mm wheel base, Altis offers a better legroom at the rear.
Comfortable for five, the spacious Altis features a newly designed interior. Black instrument panel, 3-spoke steering wheel with audio and Bluetooth control make it an enjoyable drive. Toyota also offers the new Corolla Altis in an additional accessory package called ‘Benchmark Collection’. Customers will get more chrome and day time running lamps in addition in this package.
The base price for the 2014 Corolla Altis starts at Rs. 11.99 lakh (petrol) and Rs. 13.07 lakh (diesel). The petrol CVT automatic version costs a little higher at Rs. 16.89 lakh. Bookings for the newly launched car began in March this year with a deposit of Rs. 50,000. Toyota is expected to deliver the booked cars now with the launch.
